Promising Times

Promises. Commitments. You make then everyday. But do you keep them all? Do you run away?

Well, you prioritize some. You throw some away(?). But how do you classify?

Lets probe this further. Everything you do in your life, in a day, can be classified into four categories : Urgent, Not urgent, Important, Not important.

You fulfill those first that seem important AND urgent- deadline driven projects, pressing problems; you define them to be of personal or professional in nature. They are the main cause of your STRESS. Schedule them and manage most of your time effectively among these tasks.

The tasks that seem non-urgent and unimportant are the ones you don't need to or don't have to do. They are Time-wasters. You either delegate them or do away with them.

There are also tasks that may not be that urgent but important to you, to your well-being. Recreation activities, for instance. As much as you think you can sustain without a healthy dose of entertainment, the truth is that 'All work and no play DOES make Jack a dull boy'. Planning for future is another one as it is pertinent for grabbing new opportunities or preempting threats/challenges. So spend considerable time on it.

So, dearest Jack, manage that little time at your behest, and fulfill those commitments. Win, Jack, win.
